Operations
FUE and FUT are two hair transplant techniques of follicular units. Their only technical difference lies in the way the follicular units are harvested.
During the FUE hair transplant technique, the surgeon applies a micro-precision extraction tool to each root. Each graft is chosen in a calculated way in the donor area so that the hair grows naturally without disturbing the overall density.
The implantation is done respecting the direction and the angle of the hair growth, following the line of your natural hair. The process is repeated until the surgeon has enough hair for the planned restoration.
The area heals in about a week, leaving tiny white scars hidden in the hair and precisely at the back and on the sides of the scalp. This will largely disappear after a year.
Under local anaesthesia, tiny holes are made in the bald area of the scalp using a fine needle. Each follicle is then planted in a hole for a healthy and a permanent hair.
1, 2 or 3 follicles are planted in order to determine the direction of the hair growth and to provide an ideal number of follicles. This is essential for a natural and an aesthetic appearance of the hair.
It will take about 3 to 4 months for the new hair to start growing. Natural hair will continue to mature until 18 months after your surgery. There will be no visible scars after one year.
If the hair is completely shaved again by choice, minor white spots may remain depending on the type of your skin.
The overall result will reflect your natural hair before any hair loss. The grafted hair will be permanent as it is obtained from a genetically coded area without hair loss.
No, the procedure is relatively painless, but it causes a slight discomfort when the local anesthetic is applied.
The return to normal activities may take several days. Some patients can even resume their professional activities on the day of the procedure, but you must always ask your surgeon before returning to work.
The procedure is painless as nowadays all the hair transplant procedures are generally painless.
The patient may notice swelling on the forehead area and this will rapidly disappear.
Following the surgeon’s recommendations is very important for the success of your surgery.
The FUE technique involves the extraction of the follicular units one by one from the donor area, whereas in the FUT technique, the follicular units are harvested by a single strip and stereoscopic dissection. Then, the position of the follicular units is identical for both methods.
In the FUE technique, the incisions made are rounded and point shaped and will be scattered diffusely over the scalp. Whereas in the FUT method, there is a scar in a rectangular frame that will always remain under the donor area.
The FUE technique is therefore implemented by extracting follicular units from the back and the sides of the scalp and reimplanting them in the area affected by the hair loss.
It can reproduce the natural hair growth as the grafted hair grows in its natural groups of 1 to 4 hairs. When it is used by doctors with high surgical skills and a highly developed aesthetic perception, the FUE technique can achieve refined and undetectable aesthetic results.
